The ‘Tadlet’
Designer and Maker 2024
The ‘Tadlet’ puppet was made for RWCMD’s Spawn! directed by Lucy Hall and Elliot Ditton. A puppet show for children, following Cerys who when receives a video game of the princess and the frog for her birthday, but then the real world and the game world started to glitch and combine.
Each scene was a different level in the game, and followed the life cycle of a frog. I was team leader of the Kitchen scene, where the Tadpole grew legs and arms, (hence the name, ‘Tadlet’).
The ‘Tadlet’ had to swim, sit down in a highchair, open and close it’s mouth to eat, and grow arms. Making this puppet involved lots of experimentation with different materials and techniques.
