Bucket

Cardboard maquette of Goblin.

Final clay sculpt of head. Trying to create round, friendly features using my drawings as reference.

Clay sculpt of foot. Wanted a narly gross goblin foot because he lives in the woods.

Making the moving ear mechanism from bearings in old fidget spinners and dowels attached to the ears which spin when pulled, and sprung back to place. I changed the triggers after this.

Making the arm and legs joints with pipe and dowel.

I glued on wadding and encased it in scrap Lycra to create more of an arm shape. The hands are attached with a leather joint.

Legs made the same way as the arms. The feet rendered to be really gross looking as this goblin walks around in the woods with bare feet.

The Pelvis made from blue foam. I used contact adhesive to glue a wood block to it, which the legs will be attached to.

The handle for the back screwed into a piece of ply that I glued to the foam, glued some webbing on to add even more support.

The body all put together!

Rendering the head by painting the Worbla with acrylic paints. The Worbla has a sort of rough texture which is perfect for goblin skin.

I drafted a simple trouser pattern, and sewed them together from dyed calico. I added patches and buttons and areas of ‘visible mending’

Close up of details on the jumper. I wanted it to look like Bucket himself had fixed his jumper with patches and darning.

I altered a child’s jumper I got from the Charity shop, and then added patches, embroidery, and trinkets and buttons that might have Bucket collected.

I crotched Bucket a balaclava from second hand yarn.
