Spawn!
Puppet Designer/Maker/Performer/Team Leader
KITCHEN SCENE
Spawn! was a puppet show aimed towards children and families, using creative captioning for D-deaf audiences.
Cerys gets given a video game of Princess and the Frog for her birthday, but as the day goes on, the game begins to glitch and real life and video game world start to mix. Each level of the game holds new challenges as Cerys must nurture the spawn all the way to a frog.
I led a team of 7 other design students to create puppets for and devise the ‘Kitchen Scene’, where Cerys’s parents are preparing party food, and it starts to come alive as the game glitches.

PROCESS
As a group we created a table covered in birthday party food that came alive when the game started to glitch. Gummy worms wiggled, party rings started to move like a centipede, and colin the caterpillar cake crawled off the table.
